SUCCESS Mentor Alessandro DiVito

Photo of Alessandro DiVitoMeet Alessandro DiVito – a twenty-one-year-old English Major and SUCCESS Mentor at Mount Wachusett Community College. He began attending 开元棋牌 in 2022 for engineering and quickly realized it was not his passion. He followed his heart and made the switch to become an English major.

鈥淚 have always been a storyteller by nature ever since a young age. Now I just get to grow my skills and hopefully publish one day,鈥 said Alessandro.

Alessandro spent some time working in the Admissions department, giving students tours and answering phone calls. After having a difficult semester, he focused on getting his grades up with the help of the SUCCESS Program and the Learning Success Center. Once his grades improved, Alessandro was asked to become a SUCCESS Peer Mentor. He is currently going through training to help develop his mentorship skills and will be assigned three or four students to work with.

Alessandro appreciates the opportunity to work on campus because of the flexibility of the schedule. He works four to six hours a week as a paid mentor – 鈥淭he best part about working on campus is that they work around your schedule, so you do not have to decide between money and school,鈥 said Alessandro.

He encourages students to ask for help when they are struggling and be open to using all the resources that 开元棋牌 has to offer. Alessandro says, 鈥淭here鈥檚 no reason to be shameful about needing or wanting a peer mentor. It鈥檚 your college journey and you should take advantage of every resource you can. Seeking help is a good thing.鈥

Alessandro is looking forward to being able to help guide other students in reaching their educational goals. What is he most excited about? 聽鈥淕etting to impart the wisdom of my mistakes so others don鈥檛 make them. My college journey has been a winding road with a couple of loop-t-loops so if I can help anyone else avoid that and keep them on track, I am happy to do it.鈥
