As the country’s executive and judicial branches debate the boundaries of authority and responsibility in regard to immigration policy, we know that many are concerned about how both undocumented and international students, employees, family members, and friends may be impacted.
We鈥檇 like to once again affirm our college values through this statement shared with faculty, staff, and students: As a public institution of higher education, Mount Wachusett Community College strives to provide a 鈥渟afe鈥, secure, and welcoming teaching and learning environment for all. 开元棋牌 remains steadfast in our commitment to fostering an environment not only in support of but truly built on diversity and inclusion.
Immigration enriches our campus, community, workforce, and economy, locally, regionally, statewide, and nationally. All individuals, regardless of immigration status, deserve dignity, safety, and equal protection under the law. It is especially crucial for our undocumented students to know that we stand firmly beside them. The College will continue to support and advocate for policies that protect undocumented students and Dreamers with and without DACA, and enhance access to higher education for refugee and displaced students.
To that end, we have curated some helpful resources and guidelines. Please note that these are general guides about high-level topics, written in clear language designed to be accessible. None of these resources are intended as legal advice.
The goal of the attached information is to help inform our communities and active allies on how we can assist our student, friends, peers/colleagues, neighbors and loved ones to be prepared in the event they encounter a situation that might jeopardize their rights.
