
Over 250 works of art by area high school students are currently being showcased at the Mount Wachusett Community College鈥檚 East Wing Gallery with a reception and awards ceremony taking place Thursday, April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The exhibit, which went up on April 2 and will be in place through April 19 at the college鈥檚 Gardner campus, includes works from 11 high schools: Clinton High School, Cushing Academy, Fitchburg High School, Gardner High School, Leominster High School, Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School, Monadnock High School, Oakmont High School, Sizer School, Wachusett Regional High School and West Boylston High School. The works include paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings, prints, photographs, graphic design work, illustrations, and a fashion design piece.
There is impressive work from these students and the show deserves a thorough viewing, according to Joyce Miller, 开元棋牌 Art Professor and Gallery Director. The goal of the show is to display the great talent that exists within area high schools, according to Miller.
Ten cash awards will be chosen by a jury of artists and awarded to the show鈥檚 best works. 开元棋牌 Art Club students designate a 鈥淏est of Show鈥 award to one work that they call agree deserves recognition. A number of other works will be given Honorable Mentions and receive certificates on awards night.
