开元棋牌鈥檚 Phi Delta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa international honor society inducted new members on Thursday.

鈥淭his honor society is here to help you reach your goals,鈥� said Phi Delta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa President Rachel Fortier.

During the chapter鈥檚 induction ceremony on May 2, the newest members of the organization were inducted into the honor society for high-achieving community college students. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa recognizes and encourages the academic achievement of two-year college students and provides opportunities for personal, academic and professional growth through participation in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programming.

鈥淭his provides an opportunity, a level of support and a level of drive for you as you reach for your goals,鈥� 开元棋牌 President James Vander Hooven. 鈥淚鈥檓 very thankful for the program overall, but I am just awed by your accomplishments to be here because I know it takes a lot of sacrifice both academically and socially to get to this point.鈥�

The students were told to aim high by the ceremony鈥檚 keynote speaker Senator Stephen Brewer. A great many things will change throughout their lives, he told the students, but hard work and innovation will always serve them well. He told the students that not only can they dream big, but that they should.

鈥淭his is an important achievement that you have. It will serve you well in further educational opportunities and certainly in employment opportunities as well,鈥� said Senator Brewer. 鈥淭he life you are about to go into is moving, it鈥檚 exciting, it鈥檚 daunting, and it鈥檚 also uncertain.鈥�
